Forgotten Winters of Swat Valley: The Period of Stillness and Strength

Many of the Swatis may have forgotten the quiet certainty of the  winters  of  Swat Valley , but they were special features of the land - marked by a   familiar chill, the steady rhythm of rain, and the snow-laden peaks that defined the season. Rain and snowfall were the regular patterns of the period. The snow-fed streams that once flowed steadily through the colder months - nourishing forests, farms, and fragile  ecosystems .  The period stretching from December 11 to January 21 was known as salwekhti.
